Zondervan launch new ‘scratch and sniff’ Bible
GRAND RAPIDS, MI – International Christian publishing company, Zondervan, has announced their new ‘scratch and sniff’ Bible line will be rolled out from March 2021.
In what is believed to be a world-first, Zondervan has utilised the process of ‘micro-encapsulation’ to insert thousands of individual smells into the Christian Holy Scriptures, in what they are calling the ‘Nostrilberg‘ edition.
The CEO of Zondervan, Mark Schoenwalk, described it as a revolutionary development for Bible experience.
“We wanted to develop a way for people to go even deeper into the Word of God.”
“Just imagine the benefits for children, people with disabilities, really anyone to experience new sensations of the biblical stories.”
“In Genesis we see God breath into man’s nostrils to give him life. Now we can breath in God’s Word too.”
The Damascus Dropbear inquired as to some example of what stories were enhanced by the ‘scratch and sniff’ Bible experience.
“You name it!” was Schoenwalk’s reply.
“You can smell the fruit in the Garden of Eden, the rain from the flood of Noah, the mana from heaven given to Moses – the list is endless.”
“However, we also wanted to make sure that it wasn’t just the positive smells, as the Bible is a story of tragedy and redemption.”
“Therefore you can also experience Jonah in the belly of the big fish, the bowels of Judas after his suicide, and the burning sulphur from Sodom and Gomorrah.”
It is further reported that there were some challenges with capturing the scent of certain passages, with the most difficult being a number from the book of Revelation, as well as the ‘200 Philistine Foreskins’ that King David used as the bride price for his wife.
